The nationally-renowned Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University offers visual arts degrees with a concentration in photography. Other area schools offering photography training include the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of North Texas in Denton.
Photography employment in Dallas County is expecting 4.4% growth between the years 2002 and 2012. Employment prospects in nearby Fort Worth are even better, as jobs available in and around that city are growing at a rate of 9.1%. However, it is important to bear in mind that Dallas is a much larger city, and therefore employs nearly twice as many photographers as Fort Worth.
