There are many nursing education options in Dallas. Graduate family nurse practitioner, advanced neonatal nursing and advanced nursing leadership programs are available at Baylor University, which also offers undergraduate and graduate Christian nurses mission and parish nursing experience in urban and overseas settings. Nurse practitioner preparation in acute care nursing, adult nursing, pediatric nursing, gerontology nursing and psychiatric-mental health nursing is available through the University of Texas at Arlington as part of its range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Courses of study including a traditional BSN program, a second degree fast-track baccalaureate, RN-BS/MS programs, and a variety of master and doctoral level programs are available at Texas Woman’s College. For those interested in a shorter path to a nursing career, associate degree, vocational nursing and LVN-to-RN programs are offered by El Centro College.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, registered nurses in Dallas are projected to see a 29.8% increase by 2012, while licensed practical and vocational nurses should see an 18.8% increase in that same period.
