The University of Dallas offers degree programs in French, German, Greek, Latin, and Spanish. These schools also offer assistance for students that are native speakers of other languages.
Dallas is a growing city with a strong outlook for future employment. The overall employment rate is expected to grow by about 18% by the year 2012. The diversity of the city will result in opportunities for foreign language majors. Jobs for interpreters and translators will increase by 22% during this time period. Employment opportunities for foreign language and ESL teachers will increase by 30% on the elementary level and 35% for secondary and post-secondary educators.

Dallas is a multicultural city that continues to get more diverse each year. Dallas is ranked 13th among U.S. cities for the number of foreign-born residents. The city’s proximity to Mexico has resulted in Spanish being the main foreign language spoken in Dallas, but several other languages are spoken here as well. Two colleges in the city offer a total of six different foreign language programs. The wide variety of ethnic and cultural groups in the city offers students many opportunities to experience cultures and practice foreign language skills.
