At the Art Institute of Dallas, students learn to blend their artistic senses with business sense, and also gain technical and historical expertise. El Centro College offers two choices in its interior design department, including a two-year associate in applied sciences degree, as well as a professional certificate in interior design, which is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research.
Despite these educational opportunities in interior design and the glamour of working in the host city of one of the world’s biggest trade shows in the field, Dallas isn’t projecting phenomenal growth in the job market. Through 2010, figures suggest that job growth may hover around 1%, with the present job totals in the market standing at 970. This, however, does not discount the supply of jobs already out there, or interior design freelance opportunities either.
