Several colleges and universities offer programs in graphic design and related arts. The Art Institute of Dallas offers programs in graphic design, interactive media and digital design. Westwood College offers degrees in graphic design, commercial art and visual communications. The University of Dallas offers programs in graphic design education, fine arts and general art. Dallas Baptist University has programs in design, fine arts and media arts in the school’s College of Fine Arts.
Opportunities for employment in the Dallas area are on the rise. The overall employment rate is expected to grow to 18% by the year 2012. Graphic design careers are expected to keep pace with this overall rate at 17% during this same time period. Jobs for art directors are anticipating a 9% growth and opportunities in the multimedia arts will increase by 10%.
