At Southern Methodist University, students can pursue a private, liberal arts education and choose from a variety of degree programs available in areas of art, art history, art administration, and advertising. At the Art Institute of Dallas, students receive a more specialized, career-oriented education in subjects such as animation, graphic design, and fashion design.

Dallas’ job market looks to be quite promising for the aspiring artist. All art and design occupations are forecasted to experience 12% growth through 2012, while interior designers and graphic designers are expected to see the greatest gains at 19% and 17%, respectively.
